It was on a sunny August evening in 2009 when both Kaplan and Bill started to get hooked on Ukulele’s. Kaplan had been given a soprano ukulele for his birthday by the legendary skiffle man Chas McDevitt and on that sunny evening whilst drinking a smooth glass of JD and strumming the four stringed little beauty Kaplan became well and truly hooked.

On that same night Bill asked Kaplan if he could try the Uke out, and I suppose once he had done that
The Ukaye Ukes were born. It is true to say that until that day neither of them had played the Uke before,
but ever since that day, to the annoyance of both their wives, they have not stopped.

The song’s they perform range from self penned country rock, good old Rock n’ Roll, lot’s of contemporary Pop and Rock tunes and a few surprises thrown in for good measure just to kick you off balance.

Kaplan admits there was always a Uke attraction for him. It started after seeing his friend 60’s icon and superb musician Joe Brown perform ‘I’ll See You In My Dreams’ as a tribute to the late great
George Harrison, and indeed The Ukaye Ukes perform the song themselves as a tribute to Joe Brown

So now with many Uke’s in tow including electric Tenor, Concert, Soprano and Resonator Dobro,
The Ukaye Ukes are ready to Rock or Shock the World whichever way you look at it.
